In our partnership, I handle all of the home improvement projects around the house, so this is where I’ll talk about that stuff.
We’ve lived in rentals for our entire adult lives, and we’re loathe to make changes that might compromise our chances of getting our deposit back. This creates a set of rails for our projects which can be summarized as “don’t do anything you can’t undo.”
Don’t do anything you can’t undo.
For now, this means only making small holes that can be spackled in, and building freestanding furniture to address the various shelving, storage, and furnishing needs to make our home more comfortable.
And yet, necessity is the mother of invention. These constraints have given me the chance to learn the craft of woodworking. As projects come, I’ll share my plans, process, and learning here.
Although I don’t have a garage (yet) for building my own shop, I’m fortunate to have access to a woodworking collective nearby, which is where I’ll do most of my work.
